Jazzmyn is an innovative ensemble that weaves the elegance of Chinese classical music with the vibrand energy of jazz fusion. By blending traditional instruments and melodies with jazz harmonies and rythms, the band creates a rich, multicultural soundscape that bridges past and present.

Vicki Lu is trained in both Chinese and Western
traditions and is currently pursing a PhD in
Ethnomusicology at the University of Georgia. At a
young age she trained with professional musicians
at the Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Zhejiang
Conservatory of Music and at the Xi’an
Conservatory of Music. As an “edutainer” Vicki
educates audiences about Chinese culture, history,
and language through Chinese musical
performances on the Guzheng (Chinese 21-stringed
zither) and Dizi (Chinese bamboo flute). In Jazzmyn,
Vicki features on these same instruments.
Michael Solomon is a jazz pianist with a degree
in music composition. While at the University of
Georgia, he won 1st place in the Edge Piano
Competition and has performed multiple times at
Sanford Stadium in front of 30,000+ people.
Whether it’s composing, performing, or producing,
Michael is dedicated to using his diverse skillset to
help lead Jazzmyn. When he’s not working with the
ensemble, Michael regularly plays out in
the metro-Atlanta area and is the organist at
Eastminster Presbyterian Church of Marietta, GA.
Will Shine is a multi-instrumentalist,
singer/songwriter, producer and scholar in the
fields of Ethnomusicology and Religion. Throughout
his career, Will has sought out varied musical
opportunities both as a professional musician and
as an academic, interested in projects that
integrate unique musical styles and sounds. He
has performed at venues ranging from rooftops in
South Indian hill-stations to the Kennedy Center in
Washington D.C. In Jazzmyn, Will features on
drums/percussion and loves how the project
demonstrates synergy between distinctive musical
traditions.
Nathan Lee is a touring a session bassist based in
Athens, GA. Born into a musical family in Duluth,
Minnesota, Nathan started playing music at a
young age. Drawing upon a wide range of musical
experiences—classical to jazz to punk rock to
hiphop and so on—he has been involved in studio
and stage work in all genres since childhood.
While not an original member of Jazzmyn, Nathan’s
presence ensures continuity of musical excellence
and brings fresh, creative ideas to Jazzmyn’s
sound.
